As important as our Annual Faculty, our Guest Artist provide an added level of enrichment, through our curriculum, in the way of Master Classes, Choreograph/Staging, new teaching techniques and a varied style. Eriberto Jimenez, Ballet Studies, a native of Colombia, South America, he is a principal dancer with the Miami Hispanic Ballet and Ballet Concerto in Miami, Florida.  He has studied with the Ballet Academy of Miami and the Joffrey Ballet.  He is a regular guest artist throughout the Southeastern region.  He is a member of the artistic staff and on the faculty of the Carolina Ballet Summer Academy.  In 1994, El Cid marked his choreographic debut with Carolina Ballet.  He has also appeared in The Specialist with Sharon Stone and Sylvester Stallone.
 
Jeanne Castor, Contemporary Studies, attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina School of the Arts and earned a BA Degree in Dance from Columbia College.  She is a former dancer and choreographer with the South Carolina Ballet Theatre and a Miss South Carolina dancer.  Castor has taught at the Columbia Ballet School, Greenville Ballet School, and for the Gifted and Talented in Education (GATE) Program.  She was the Upstate representative for the Board of SC Dance Association and a professional member of the SC Association for Health, PE, Recreation and Dance.  She was the founder and Artistic Director of Dancenter and DanceForce, Inc., a non for profit dance company.  Castor has choreographed for the Furman Choral Opera, Christ Church High School Dram Department, J.L. Mann Drama Department, and taught Musical Theatre at Wade Hampton High School.  She currently teaches at Grove Elementary School, in upstate South Carolina.
 
Kristin Elliott, Contemporary Studies , began her dance training in Greenville, SC under the direction of Jeanne Castor.  She has earned her degree from the University of South Carolina, graduating with a major in Business Information Systems and a minor in Dance.  She has study technique and performed with the Columbia Contemporary Performance Group, under the direction of Kris Cangelosi, an enthusiastic and well known member of the contemporary dance world.  As well, she has studied and performed with the University of South Carolina Dance Company, under the direction of Susan Anderson.  She has been a long time student and professional member of the SC Dance Association and SC Association for Health, PE, Recreation and Dance.  She has also toured throughout the Southeast and upper Midwest and as her professional dance career continues, she enjoys performing and choreographing for local companies.
 
Anna Dragon-Logan, Ballet Studies, was born in Iseo, Italy.  She taught dance in Milan and is certified by the Royal Academy of Dance (London).  Her specialization is in ballet of the Romantic period.  With her extensive dance training in the traditional Vagaova and Cecchetti methods she has worked with Gianna Ricci at Teatro La Scala, Ivette Chauvire, in Paris, Riccardo Nunez in Argentina, Gianine Loringett in France as well as Irina Ghrighebina in Russia and Celia Southern in Great Britain.  She has performed as a professional entertainer throughout Europe and tours on many continents.  She won the “Biglietto D’Oro” Award, one of Italy’s most prestigious honors, for her portray of Sheila in A Chorus Line.  In 1990 she was the assistant choreographer-director for the American Tour Company production of the same show.  She has worked in film and television and recently appeared in the South Carolina Shakespeare Company’s production of Julius Caesar.  She also works with the Carolina Ballet as an artistic staff member.
 
Sara Mearns, Ballet Studies, was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and began her dance training at the age of three with Ann Brodie at the Calvert-Brodie School of Dance, also in Columbia. At the age of 13, Ms. Mearns trained with Patricia McBride at Dance Place, the School of North Carolina Dance Theatre, in Charlotte. She continued her studies at age 14 with Stanislav Issaev at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville. Ms. Mearns entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, full time in the fall of 2001. In the fall of 2003 Ms. Mearns became an apprentice with New York City Ballet. As an apprentice, Ms. Mearns danced a featured role in Michel Fokine's Chopiniana, performed by SAB as part of New York City Ballet's 2004 winter season. In June of 2004, Ms. Mearns joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet. In March of 2006 she was promoted to soloist.
 
Haylee Dawkins, Ballet Studies, began her dance training under Ann Brodie.  She also studied extensively with Naomi Calvert and Adolfina Suarez-More.  She attended intensive dance study programs at the Boston Ballet professional project under Devon Carney and supplemented pre-professional training at the SC Governor’s School For the Arts and Humanities.  She has been a performing member of the Carolina Ballet as principal and soloist.  She completed an arts management internship with the Columbia Music Festival Association and now works with the Carolina Ballet as an artistic staff member.
 
Mykhaylo Izotov, Ballet Studies, graduated from the Ukraine Dance Academy in Kiev, Ukraine (2000) where he studied with T.E. Samoylenko.  In 2001 he graduated from the choreographic mastery school in Donetsk, Ukraine, where he studied under the director Vadim Pisarev.  After graduation he was invited to The National Ballet and Opera Theatre, Donetsk, Ukraine where he was principal soloist dancer.  He toured with that company throughout China, Turkey, Norway, Russia and the Ukraine.  He was often partnered with the great Ukrainian ballerina Inna Dorofeeva.  He was with the Columbia Classical Ballet, Columbia, SC since 2003.  Izotov is guest artist in residence with Carolina Ballet and has performed as guest artist throughout the United States with such companies as the Academy of Russian Ballet in Denver, Colorado; Laurinburg School of Dance Art in Laurinburg, North Carolina; JCP Dance in Fayetteville, North Carolina; Stages of Remembrance, Washington DC; Stepping Out in Lexington, South Carolina; and Artisan Dance in Helena, Montana.
 
Sarah Coats, Ballet Studies, is a student at the University of South Carolina.  She has studied ballet at the Center for Dance Education, Vista Studio.  She has also studied with Kati Hanlon and Shamil Yagudin.  She is currently performing a principal and soloist for the University of South Carolina Dance Company.  She also works with the Carolina Ballet as an artistic staff member.
 
Chelsea Laughter, Ballet Studies, an honors graduate from Dutch Fork High School, she is attending the University of South Carolina.  She began her dance training with Ann Brodie and continued under the tutelage of the Center for Dance Education.  She has studied under many intensive programs including, the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts, Carolina Ballet’s Summer Academy, Plymouth State College’s dance program, and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.  She has also participated in South Carolina’s Junior Miss Program as Lake Murray’s Junior Miss.  She continues to work with both the Carolina Ballet, as a member of their artistic staff, and the Center for Dance Education, as a Guest Artist.
